Jailed Comrades: you’ve got to be fucking kidding edition

I know how much you all like writing letters to locked up comrades, so get out your address books.

Jason Hammond, twin brother of Jeremy Hammond, who is still awaiting sentencing here in New York, was arrested last week.  For that Tinley Park stuff.

And now you’re all like, “huh?”  Lemme recap.  Last May there was a little melee with some white supremacists (the Illinois European Heritage Association; that sound you’re hearing is dog whistles).  Some arrests, pleaded guilty, and the Tinley Park 5 are serving time for felonies in Illinois state prisons.  And now, how or why yet to be quite figured out, Jason has been arrested for it, too, and is being held at Cook County.  He’s charged with armed violence, aggravated battery and mob action.  This is all pretty ridiculous.

Anyway, send him some mail:

Jason Hammond

#2013-0712237

PO Box 089002

Chicago, IL 60608

For the addresses of other political prisoners, writing ideas & guidelines, and updates from our incarcerated comrades, see the OpPenPal website.

In other prison news, thousands prisoners are hunger striking in California.  That’s big!  We outside need to keep our eyes on them, keep talking about it. Read up on it here.

[ETA: Huffington Post has a pretty good article about Jason.]

[Another ETA: Jason’s bail is $100,000. Donate to his bail fund here.]
